Customizing Login and default welcome page and creating a register page

created

Soapbox Engage User Integration is installed with a default login page, logout page, and Member Center page. You can also create a registration menu item if you wish to allow front end users to create web user accounts. Alternatively, you can restrict accounts to be created only in the administrator.

You can customize text to appear on these pages as well as where the user is redirected after completion of a given action.

Customizing the Login page

To customize the login page:

  • In the administrator main menu, go to Menus > Portal User Menu
  • In the Menu Item Manager that opens, click Login in the Menu Item column
  • In the left column, customize the Title, if you wish the page title to be something other than "Login"
  • For Alias, customize the URL for this page, if you wish it to be something other than "/login"
  • In the right column under Parameters (Basic), for Show Login Page Title, select Show, if you wish the text you customize in Login Page Title to be displayed
  • For Login Page Title, customize title text to appear above the login form
  • For Login Redirection URL, enter the URL to which you wish to forward a user after successful login. By default, the user is redirected to a page titled "Member Center". If you wish to keep this redirect as is but customize content of the page displayed, see below. As an alternative, you may wish to redirect the user to any Soapbox Engage form you have created by entering its alias here.
  • For Login Description, select Show, if you wish to customize text to appear below the Login Page Title and above the login form
  • For the Login Description text area, enter the text to appear below the Login Page Title and above the login form. Basic HTML can be used in this field.
  • For Login Image, select one of the default images from the drop down to display on the form or choose "- None Selected -" to not display an image
  • For Login Image Align, select the desired alignment of the image, if you have chosen one to display
  • For Show Logout Page Title, select Show, if you wish the text you customize in Logout Page Title to be displayed
  • For Logout Page Title, customize title text to appear above the logout button
  • For Logout Redirection URL, enter the URL to which you wish to forward a user after logout
  • For Logout Description, select Show, if you wish to customize text to appear below the Logout Page Title and above the logout button
  • For the Logout Description text area, enter the text to appear below the Logout Page Title and above the logout form. Basic HTML can be used in this field.
  • For Logout Image, select one of the default images from the drop down to display on the page or choose "- None Selected -" to not display an image
  • For Logout Image Align, select the desired alignment of the image, if you have chosen one to display
  • Click Save

Customizing the text of the default Member Center page

As noted under "Customizing the Login page" above, by default, users who successfully login to the site are redirect to "/member-center". To customize the content which appears on the Member Center page:

  • In the administrator main menu, go to Content > Article Manager
  • In the Article Manager, click Member Center in the Title column
  • In the article edit view, for Title, enter the text to appear at the top of the page
  • In the main content editor, customize the text you wish to display on this page. You may use the WYSIWYG editor to add images, embed videos, apply styles to text, add hyperlinks, and perform various other tasks. For more on using the WYSIWYG editor, see the Using the Content Editor forum.
  • Click Save

You may also opt to change the menu type entirely so that you can display different content such as a Directory showing the logged in user's Contact information.

If you wish to alter the URL of the page so it is no longer "/member-center":

  • In the administrator main menu, go to Menus > User Menu
  • In the Menu Item Manager that opens, click Member Center in the Menu Item column
  • In the left column, customize the Title, if you wish the page title to be something other than "Member Center"
  • For Alias, customize the URL for this page, if you wish it to be something other than "/member-center"
  • Click Save
  • Go to "Customizing the Login page" above and edit the Login Redirection URL parameter to match the new alias

Creating a new user registration page

To create a new user registration page on the front-end:

  • In the administrator main menu, go to Menus > Hidden Menu
  • In the Menu Item Manager that opens, click New
  • In the menu tree, click User
  • In the expanded section, click Default Registration Layout
  • In the following page, enter "Register" for the Title or another title of your choosing
  • If you wish the menu item to use the URL "/register", you may leave the Alias blank. If you wish to use another URL, you may alter it here.
  • In the right column, for Two-Column Layout, choose if you wish the registration form fields to appear in one or two columns
  • For Login Link, choose whether you wish a link to the login page to appear beneath the registration form
  • For Enable reCAPTCHA, choose whether you wish to require front-end users to complete the reCAPTCHA anti-spam test
  • Click Save

Customizing the default system registration page

In addition to the menu item for front-end web user registration, there is a default system registration page that is displayed when a user clicks the "Register" hyperlink on the Login view. To customize the Page Intro and Page Outro and whether you wish reCAPTCHA to be enabled, submit a ticket with details and we'll be happy to do this for you.
