Add or edit a product in the Products Manager

Products are items for sale which can be included in one or multiple stores.

Adding a product

To create a product:

  1. Navigate to the Shops Manager
  2. In the Control Panel for Shop, click Products Manager
  3. Click New
    NOTE: If you have Salesforce integration enabled and wish to associated this product with a Price Book Listing in your Salesforce account, you may wish to skip to Step 13 as selecting an existing Price Book Listing will auto-populate the Name, Product Code, and List Price fields from Salesforce.
  4. On the Basics tab:
    1. For Name, enter text you wish to display to visitors as the name of the product
    2. For Alias, leave this blank. The system will auto-create it on save based on the Name you provide
    3. For Product Code, enter a string you wish to use to identify this product. This will not be displayed to visitors.
    4. For Product Summary, enter the summary of the product which will appear to visitors on the product list of a store
    5. For Internal Description, enter a description that you wish to use for internal purposes only
    6. For Published, choose Yes or No
    7. For List Price, enter the price at which you wish to sell this product
    8. For Tax Deductible Amount, enter an amount which is tax deductible, if it applies. This value is not displayed to visitors and is only used for internal bookkeeping purposes.
    9. If your site has Salesforce integration enabled and you wish to restrict access to this product to logged in users whose Contact records match a specific value,
      1. For Custom Field, enter the Salesforce field name of your choosing as ($FieldName}. To locate the Field Names for your Contact object in Salesforce, go to Setup > Customize > Contacts > Field Names. The Field Name is identified in the middle column of this view.
      2. For Custom Field Value, enter the value you wish to match. Any record whose field includes the value will be given access to this product. For example, if you specify "business" as the value, any Contact whose Custom Field has the value of "Small Business" will be granted access.
    10. For Status, select "In Stock", "Out of Stock", "Discontinued", or "Not Available". This Status will displayed across all stores for this product. Only products with a Status of "In Stock" are available for purchase.
    11. For PricebookEntry, if your site has Salesforce integration enabled, you may click Select to associate this product with a given Price Book Entry in Salesforce.
    12. For Product Image, select an image previously uploaded or upload a new one
    13. Click Save
  5. On the Product Description tab:
    1. For Product Description, enter the text to be displayed in the product popup, if you have elected to display more details about the product
    2. For Product Image Linkable, choose whether or not to hyperlink the product image so that clicking on it will open the product popupFor Title Linkable, choose whether or not to hyperlink the title of the product so that clicking on it will open the product popup
    3. If you wish to further customize settings for this product, click Customize Headings and Labels to set the following parameters:
      1. For View More Button Text, custom the text to appear in the View More button and choose to show or hide this button
      2. For Title, set whether or not the product title should appear in the product popup
      3. For Product Image, set whether or not the product image should appear in the product popup
      4. For Product Summary, set whether or not the product summary should appear in the product popup
      5. For Status, set whether or not the product status should appear in the product popup
      6. For List Price, set whether or not the product price should appear in the product popup
      7. For Quantity, set whether or not the quantity selector should appear in the product popup
  6. Click Save
NOTE: If you associate a product with a Price Book Entry in Salesforce, the Name, Product Code, and List Price fields auto-populate on initial selection. They do not update thereafter based on changes in Salesforce. If you make changes in Salesforce, you will need to manually update them for the product in Soapbox.

Editing a product

To edit an existing product:

  1. Navigate to the Shops Manager
  2. In the Control Panel for Shop, click Products Manager
  3. Locate the product in the list of options
  4. Click the title
  5. Edit the parameters as described above
  6. Click Save
