Creating records related to logged in user's Contact or Account record

updated

If your site has a password-protected area and user accounts are connected to a Contact record in your Salesforce instance with our Portals feature, you have the ability to build Forms pages that associate new records in objects related to the Contacts or Accounts object with the Contact or Account record of the logged in user.

To automatically associate the Contact or Account of the logged in user with a Forms page:

  • Navigate to the Forms Manager
  • Click Form Manager
  • Open the Forms page associated with the same Salesforce object you wish to use for editing
  • On the Form tab, click Add Salesforce Element
  • In the Salesforce Field drop down, choose the field containing the Contact ID or Account ID
  • For Default Value, enter the either {$AccountId} or {$ContactId}, as apporopriate
  • For Hidden, choose Yes. NOTE: If the field is not set to Hidden, it will not work properly.
  • Click Save
  • Click Save in the form edit view

NOTE: If the reference field for the Contact or Account object is a required field in your Salesforce account, this form will only work for logged in users since these values will not be populated unless the user is logged in. In these situations, it will be best practice to set the Access Level to Registered to prevent anonymous users from accessing the form
