Viewing, uploading, and managing images and documents in the Media Manager

updated

With Soapbox Engage, you can view, upload, and manage images, documents and other media in the Media Manager. This is in addition to the options you have for uploading images and documents using the WYSIWYG and other specific parameters in the various apps across Soapbox.

How you access the Media Manager in the administrator is determined by the version of the Soapbox administrator your site has:  Soapbox Lightning, Soapbox Engage Classic, or Soapbox CMS Classic.

I have the Soapbox Lightning Administrator with...
  • Contextual menu with App Launcher waffle to the left of the navigation
  • White and blue color scheme with penguin avatar in upper right
  • App-specific modules in the left column of the home page
  • Soapbox Engage User Account module at the top of the right column of the home page

To view and manage all media files, click the App Launcher waffle to the left of the navigation bar. In the App Launcher popup, do any of the following: a) in the Utilities Apps section of the popup, click the Utilities app tile and then the Media menu item in the contextual navigation; b) scroll to the All Items section of the popup and click Utilities > Media Manager; or c) type "Media" in the search field and click Utilities > Media Manager in All Items in the results.

From the Media Manager, you can upload or delete files as well as create folders. The default view of the Media Manager will be the /storage directory for the site with the Thumbnail View. You may click Detail View if you wish to see a list of the files. You may click on a subdirectory to navigate to that subdirectories files.

To upload a file, navigate to the directory to which you wish to upload it. At the bottom of the view, click Upload File. In the window that opens, select the file you wish to upload from you local machine and click Open. When you are returned to the main screen, click Start Upload.

To delete a file, you may click the red X next to the file or tick off the checkbox next to each file you wish to delete and click the Delete icon in the upper right.
