Enabling Bank Transfers in Stripe

If you wish to accept bank transfers through the Donations app with Stripe, you will need to ensure that Bank Transfers are enabled in Stripe. The first step in doing so is to enable Financial Connections.

Setting Up Financial Connections in Stripe

  1. Go to the Set up Financial Connections application process page
  2. For "How do you plan to use Financial Connections?", select "Accept bank payments", and click the Next button.
  3. For "What types of data do you want to use?", select "Tokenized account and routing number" and "Account ownership details", and click the Next button.
  4. For "Additional usage details", select "Money movement" and "Ownership verification".
    1. For "Tell us more about how you plan to use the data", describe that you'll use this service to allow your website visitors to process bank transfers for online donations to your organization.
    2. For "You agree that you will only store this data in the US", select "Yes".
    3. For "Who are your users?" select both "Individuals" and "Businesses".
    4. For "Do you plan to share this data with third parties?", select "Yes", and "Service providers or vendors".
    5. For "Enter your privacy policy" include the URL to your organization's privacy policy.
  5. Complete any additional steps.

Configuring Bank Transfers in Stripe

Once this has been done, you may enable bank transfers as a payment method in Stripe as follows:

  1. Login to Stripe
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go to Payments under the Product settings section
  4. Go to the Payment Methods tab
  5. Find your Default configuration, click the three dots on the right-hand side, and go to manage configuration
  6. Scroll to the Bank Transfers sections, click Turn On
  7. Follow all verification steps
