Viewing, creating, and managing menus and menu items in Soapbox Engage

updated

With Soapbox Engage, you can view, create, and manage links to app pages in the Menu Manager. This is in addition to the Customize URL options you have for specific pages across the various apps. In fact, the Customize URL options in the various apps are widgets that created and edit menu items within the Menu Manager.

How you access the Menu Manager in the administrator is determined by the version of the Soapbox administrator your site has:  Soapbox Lightning, Soapbox Engage Classic, or Soapbox CMS Classic.

I have the Soapbox Lightning Administrator with...
  • Contextual menu with App Launcher waffle to the left of the navigation
  • White and blue color scheme with penguin avatar in upper right
  • App-specific modules in the left column of the home page
  • Soapbox Engage User Account module at the top of the right column of the home page

For Soapbox sites using the Soapbox Lightning administrator:

To view and manage all menus and menu items, click the App Launcher waffle to the left of the navigation bar. In the App Launcher popup, do any of the following: a) in the Standard Apps section of the popup, click the Utilities app tile and then the Menus menu item in the contextual navigation; b) scroll to the All Items section of the popup and click Utilities > Menus; or c) type "Menus" in the search field and click Utilities > Menus in All Items in the results.

From the Menu Manager, you can create new menus or delete, copy or edit existing menus. To manage individual menu items in a given menu, click the icon in the Menu Item(s) column for the giving menu. For most sites that do not use the Soapbox content management system (CMS), this will be either the Hidden Menu or Soapbox Engage Menu which serves as the default menu. For sites with the Soapbox CMS, this will likely be the Main Menu but can be specific to your site structure and where you wish the menu to appear in that structure.

For Soapbox sites using the Soapbox Engage Classic administrator:

To view and manage all menus and menu items, your site may have been set up with customized links in the main menu to access the Menu Manager. If not, you'll want to click the Switch to Lightning UX link in the header and follow the instructions above. If you don't see the Switch to Lightning UX link in the header, open a ticket and we'll be happy to assist.

For Soapbox sites using the Soapbox CMS Classic administrator:
