What Soapbox Engage Onsite is and what your team can do with it

updated

Soapbox Engage Onsite is an app your staff and volunteers open on their own phone, tablet, or computer to run the floor at an event. It checks guests in, takes donations, sells merchandise, and manages bidders and paddle raise commitments at an auction — all against the same Soapbox data your administrators already work with.

Note: The app currently displays the name Soapbox Staff on your device. The product name is changing to Soapbox Engage Onsite in a coming release.

What your team can do with it

  • Check guests in by scanning the QR code on their ticket or by searching for their name, and reverse a check-in that was made in error.
  • Take a donation on the spot, including recurring gifts, a designation, and the option for the donor to cover processing fees.
  • Sell products from your Shop as an in-person point of sale, with your store's sales tax and shipping applied.
  • Register and manage bidders at an auction, assign bidder numbers, save a card to a bidder's record, and capture paddle raise commitments as a spotter.
  • Collect payment three ways — on a Stripe Terminal reader, by handing the payer a QR code to pay on their own phone, or by entering card details on the staff device.

Everything the app records lands in the same place as the rest of your Soapbox data: donations appear in your Transactions, orders appear in your Shop orders, and check-ins appear against the guest's reservation.

Who it is for

Engage Onsite is a staff tool, not a page you send to your supporters. It is opened by the people working your event — the check-in desk, the merchandise table, the auction spotters — using an account you give them. Your guests never see it; they see the QR code screen you hand them, or the reader you present.

How it is different from the Soapbox Engage Check-in app

Soapbox offers two apps with overlapping names, and they are not the same product.

  • Soapbox Engage Onsite is Soapbox-native. It reads your Soapbox Events reservations, Shop products, Donation forms, and Auctions, and it does check-in, point of sale, donations, and auction floor work.
  • The Soapbox Engage Check-in app is a Salesforce Lightning component. It runs inside Salesforce, is driven by Campaign and Ticket records, and does check-in only.

Which one suits you depends on where your event data lives. Neither replaces the other.
