If you bid at an auction run on Soapbox, you can save a card to your account so you do not have to enter it again, and so the organization can settle what you win without chasing you for it afterwards.
You must be signed in. If you are not, the page asks you to sign in first rather than showing anything.
Seeing your cards
Your saved cards appear under Payment Cards. Each one shows its brand, the last four digits and the expiry date. If you have not saved one yet, the page says No saved payment methods.
Adding a card
- Click Add Payment Method.
- Enter the card details and the name on the card.
- Optionally give the card a nickname — something like "Personal Visa" — which is only ever shown to you and makes several cards easier to tell apart.
- Enter your billing address, starting with the country.
- Save.
Nothing is charged when you save a card. You are authorizing the organization to charge it later for what you agree to — at an auction, that is whatever you win.
Choosing which card is used
The card marked Default is the one used unless something else is chosen. To change it, click Set as Default on the card you would rather use.
Note: An auction can have its own choice of card, set by the organization running it. If you have told them which card to use for a particular event, that choice is held on the auction and is not changed by setting a different default here.
Removing a card
Click Remove on the card you no longer want stored. It is deleted from your account straight away.
If you remove the card an upcoming auction is set to use, tell the organizers, or save another card and ask them to use it — otherwise they will find the problem at settlement rather than before it.
What the organization can see
Staff at the organization can see the same details you see — brand, last four digits, expiry and nickname — and can remove a card. Nobody can see your full card number, including you: the number is held by Stripe, the payment processor, and is never stored on the Soapbox site.
