Overview
Whether you're updating your organization's branding, changing colors or fonts, or adding new elements to your site, there are several ways to customize your Soapbox template.
The options available to you depend on whether your site uses a Standard Soapbox Template or a Custom Template built by Soapbox.
Standard templates include self-service customization options within the Soapbox administrator. Changes to Custom Templates are completed by the Soapbox team, with many common branding updates available at no additional cost.
Standard Soapbox Templates
Standard Soapbox Templates can be customized directly from your Soapbox administrator, allowing you to create different variations of your template as needed.
Navigate to:
App Launcher → Utilities → Template Designer
From the Template Designer, you can create and manage your Standard Template variations.
Template Designer Options
The available customization options are displayed on the right side of the Template Designer.
Depending on the template, these settings allow you to customize the appearance of your template without needing to submit a request to Soapbox Support.
Custom CSS
For additional styling changes, select Custom CSS toward the top-right of the Template Designer.
This provides access to the template's basic CSS stylesheet.
Common CSS customizations include:
- Button colors
- Heading colors, such as H1, H2, and other heading styles
- Other basic styling adjustments
Changes made through the Template Designer and Custom CSS can be completed at any time without submitting a ticket to Soapbox Support.
Custom Templates
If Soapbox created a Custom Template for your organization, updates to the template are completed by the Soapbox team.
Many common branding and content updates can be made at no additional cost, including:
- Updating fonts
- Updating colors
- Updating your logo
- Updating header menu items
- Updating footer menu items
- Other non-structural styling or branding changes
To request one of these changes, submit a ticket to Soapbox Support and describe the updates you'd like made.
Structural Changes
Changes that add new functionality or alter the structure of a Custom Template may require additional development work.
Examples of minor structural changes include:
- Adding a fly-out menu
- Adding a new section to the template
- Adding an email sign-up area
- Adding other template elements that were not included in the original design
If you're interested in a structural change, submit a ticket to Soapbox Support with a description of what you'd like to add or modify. Our team can review the request and provide a quote if there is a cost associated with the work.
Complete Template Redesigns
If you're looking to significantly redesign your Custom Template rather than make updates to the existing design, the project will be treated as a new Custom Template and will have an associated cost.
Submit a ticket to Soapbox Support with information about your redesign so our team can review your needs and discuss next steps.
Not Sure Which Template You Have?
If you're unsure whether your site uses a Standard Soapbox Template or a Custom Template, submit a ticket and we'll be happy to help you determine which template type you're using.
