Creating a Custom Target

With the Actions app, you can create custom targets which can be included in an Action so that letters from supporters are sent directly to the target via the email you specify for them.

To create a Custom Target:

1. Open the Custom Targets view in Soapbox
2. Click New
3. For Prefix, enter the prefix to be used for this target in the opening of the message between the Salutation identified in the Action and the last name of the Custom Target. Common examples include Mr., Ms., Dr., Rev.
   
   Example, if we had Mickey Mouse as a Custom Target:
   
   
4. For First Name, enter the first name of the Custom Target. This will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete:
   
   
   
5. For Last Name, enter the last name of the Custom Target. This will be used in a) the opening of the message before the Salutation identified in the Action and the first name of the Custom Target; and b) the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
6. For Published, select Yes or No to determine if this Custom Target is available to be added as a Target to an Action
7. For Organization, enter the Organization of the Custom Target. If populated, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
8. For Title, enter the title of the Custom Target. If populated, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
9. For Email Address, enter the email to be used for this target when sending messages from supporters. Without a valid email address, no message will be successfully sent.
10. For Phone, enter the phone number of the Custom Target. If populated, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
11. For Street Address, enter the address of the Custom Target. If populated, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
12. For City, enter the city of the Custom Target. If populated, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
13. For State / Province, select the U.S. state or territory of the Custom Target. If selected, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
14. For Zip / Postal Code, enter the zip code of the Custom Target. If populated, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
15. For Country, enter the country of the Custom Target. If populated, this will appear to your supporter in the Who You're Contacting portion of the Action that they complete.
16. For Headshot Thumbnail, you may upload an image to be associated with Custom Target. As of the writing of this documentation, however, this image does not appear to your supporter. This functionality will be added in the future.
17. Click Save
