How are changes to the amount of a recurring donation noted in the Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack?

If you have the Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack, when an initial recurring donation is processed by Soapbox and sent to Salesforce as a Lead, that Lead will be autoconverted into an Opportunity with a Recurring Donation record created for the subscription. Additionally, future Pledge Opportunities will be created based on your NPSP Settings.

If the amount of the recurring donation is subsequently changed, either by the donor when logged into the front-end of your Soapbox site or manually by your team directly with your payment processor, Opportunities created or updated for subsequent recurring donations will have the new amount.

The amount on the Recurring Donation record will not be changed by Soapbox. Nor will the amount of future Pledged Opportunities be changed.

Additionally, in Soapbox, the Transactions created for the subsequent recurring donation will show the new amount. The Subscription record in Soapbox will retain the original amount.

As an example, if Soapbox processes a $50 monthly recurring donation on 5/1/2023 and your NPSP Settings is set to created 3 future Pledged Opportunities, the following records are created related to the donation:

1. Closed Won Opportunity with an Amount of $50 and a Close Date of 5/1/2023
2. Recurring Donation with an Amount of $50
3. Pledged Opportunity with an Amount of $50 and a Close Date of 6/1/2023
4. Pledged Opportunity with an Amount of $50 and a Close Date of 7/1/2023
5. Pledged Opportunity with an Amount of $50 and a Close Date of 8/1/2023

If the subscription is updated to $75 on 5/10/2023, when the next installment is processed on 6/1/2023, the records will change as follows:

1. Closed Won Opportunity with an Amount of $50 and a Close Date of 5/1/2023
2. Recurring Donation with an Amount of $50
3. Closed Won Opportunity with an Amount of $75 and a Close Date of 6/1/2023
4. Pledged Opportunity with an Amount of $50 and a Close Date of 7/1/2023
5. Pledged Opportunity with an Amount of $50 and a Close Date of 8/1/2023
