Defining the letter content to be sent to the target and setting what elements are editable by the visitor

With the Actions app, you can define the letter content to be sent to the target. This includes the following:

  • Subject Line: required to send the letter
  • Salutation
  • Opening: optional
  • Body: required to send the letter
  • Closing: optional
  • Inclusion of the Address after Closing

In addition, you can set various elements to be editable or not editable by the visitor taking the Action.

To define the letter content and which elements can be edited by the visitor:

  1. Open the Actions Manager in the Soapbox administrator
  2. Click the title of the Action for which you wish to customize
  3. Click the Action tab
  4. Scroll down to the Target Email section
  5. For Subject Line, enter the text you wish to use
  6. For Editable Subject, choose whether this should be editable by the visitor
  7. For Salutation, enter any text you wish to appear before the target's prefix and name, for Custom Targets, or title and name for elected officials (e.g., "Dear")
  8. For Opening, enter text for the opening of the letter. This is optional as only Body is required.
  9. For Editable Opening?, choose whether this should be editable by the visitor
  10. For Body, enter text for the opening of the letter. This is required.
  11. For Editable Body?, choose whether this should be editable by the visitor
  12. For Closing, enter text for the opening of the letter. This is optional as only Body is required.
  13. For Editable Closing?, choose whether this should be editable by the visitor
  14. For Include Address after Closing, select whether you wish the address of the visitor to be displayed after the closing. This is customary when targeting elected officials.
  15. Click Save
