Creating global promo codes for products in the Shop shopping cart and across all Stores

With the Shop app, you have the ability to offer promotional codes that provide discounts on products or individual product variants. You can define which products or product variants these discounts may be applied to, how many times they can be used, and the calendar period in which they are valid.

These promo codes can be created so they can be used globally across all Shop Stores and the Shop shopping cart checkout form in the Promo Codes tab of the administrator. Alternatively, you can  create promo codes to be used with one specific Store by editing the Store itself.

To create a global promotional code that can be used across all Shop Stores and the Shop shopping cart checkout form:

1. Open the Promo Codes view in Shop
2. Click New
3. For Name, enter the name you wish to give to this promo code. This will be for internal purposes only and not displayed to visitors.
4. For Code, enter the character string to be used by visitors. Promo codes are case-insensitive and should contain only numbers and letters with no spaces.
5. For Description, enter an internal description for your purposes. This will be for internal purposes only and not displayed to visitors.
6. For Published, select Yes, if you wish the promo code to be available
7. For Discount, enter the numeric value per product the promo code provides and select either "$" or "%" from the picklist to the right to identify that numeric value as a percentage or dollar value
8. For Quantity Available, enter the maximum number of products to which you wish to allow this promo code applied
9. For Begin Date, enter the date at which this promo code will become valid
10. For End Date, enter the date at which this promo code ceases to be valid
11. For Products, click the Add Product button and select at least one product or product variant to which you want to allow the promo code to be applied. If you wish to apply a promo code to all Variants of a parent Product, you must select add all Variants individually to the promo code.
12. Click Save
13. If you wish to add another promotional code, repeat this process

Adding multiple promo codes for a single product

You may add multiple promo codes for a single product and these can be applied to the same products in a Store or the same products or product variants in the Shop shopping cart, if you wish to offer different discounts through different codes. Only one code may be applied per order and that code will be applied to all products or product variants in the order that match the product(s) you select for the promo code.
