We're excited to announce that a recent release of Soapbox has added the option for an administrator to enable single sign-on for administrator access. This new single sign-on capability uses Security Assertion Markup Language, or SAML. SAML is widely used method for enabling access to multiple web applications using one set of login credentials. With SAML, authentication information is passed securely between an identity provider and a web application.
In our case, the web application is Soapbox and the initial identity provider with which it integrates is Okta, a leader in the industry.
Over the course of the coming months, we'll be extending the single sign-on feature to other identify providers like Salesforce, allowing your administrators to login to Soapbox using their Salesforce credentials. What's more, we'll expand it to include front-end user access so your visitors can make use of the same convenient, secure login option now available to administrators.
Happy Soapboxing!
