Improved Email Accuracy for Recurring Donation Transactions

updated

Summary

This release expands a previous enhancement to ensure more accurate email tracking for recurring donations across all supported payment processors.

Previously introduced for Authorize.net , this update now applies the same logic to all other processors by using the email address stored on the Subscription record when creating subsequent recurring donation Transaction records, rather than relying on the email from the initial transaction. That means:

  • Consistent email sourcing: Subsequent recurring donation transactions now reference the Subscription record’s email address.

  • Improved data accuracy: Ensures updates to a donor’s email are reflected in future recurring donation records.

Supported payment processors:

  • Authorize.net

  • Braintree

  • Cybersource

  • IATS

  • PayPal

  • Stripe

  • TouchNet

Why this matters for nonprofits

Accurate donor data is critical for communication, receipting, and reporting. By ensuring recurring transactions use the most up-to-date email address from the Subscription record, organizations can maintain cleaner data, reduce inconsistencies, and improve donor outreach over time.

Happy Soapboxing!

Highlights

  1. Uses Subscription record email for all recurring donation transactions across processors

  2. Ensures updated donor emails carry through to future payments

  3. Improves data consistency for reporting and communication
