What you need before using Soapbox Engage Onsite

updated

Soapbox Engage Onsite works with the apps you already have on your Soapbox site, but a few things need to be in place before your team can use it at an event. Work through this list before your first event, not on the day.

Important: Engage Onsite collects payment through Stripe only. Every payment path in the app — the Terminal reader, the QR code the payer scans, and card details typed on the staff device — uses Stripe. If your site collects payment through Authorize.net, Braintree, CyberSource, iATS, PayPal, or TouchNet, your team can still check guests in and manage bidders, but they cannot take money in the app.

Everyone needs

  1. A Stripe account connected to your site, if your team will collect payment. See Setting up and troubleshooting Stripe.
  2. An account for each staff member at Manager level or above. Front-end accounts cannot open the app. See Giving your team access to Engage Onsite.
  3. A device with a camera and a network connection. The app runs in the browser on a phone, tablet, or computer, and can be installed to the home screen. See Opening Engage Onsite and installing it on a device.

Important: Engage Onsite needs a working network connection at all times. Check-ins and payments cannot be recorded while a device is offline. Confirm the venue's connectivity before the event, and have a backup — a hotspot, or a device on cellular data.

If your team will check guests in

  • Your event exists in the Events app and is published.
  • Guests have registered and hold a ticket with a QR code.

If your team will sell products

If your team will work an auction

  • Your auction exists in the Auctions app, and — if your bidders come from an event guest list — the auction is associated with that event.

If your team will use a card reader

Which tabs your team will see

The app shows a tab for each Soapbox app enabled on your account. If your account does not include the Shop app, your team sees no Shop tab. Home and Profile are always available.
