Adding a donation to an in-person order

Someone buying a T-shirt at your merchandise table has already decided to give you money and already has their card out. Adding a donation to the order asks for a little more at the one moment it is easiest to say yes.

To add a donation to an order:

1. Build the buyer's cart as normal.
2. Tap Cart.
3. Tap Add a donation.
4. Enter the amount.
5. Continue to Checkout.

The donation appears as its own line on the cart and on the checkout total, so the buyer can see exactly what they are paying for.

Note: The option is on the Cart screen, not at checkout. This is deliberate — asking while the buyer is still reviewing their items works better than asking after they have committed to a total.

Removing it

If the buyer changes their mind, set the donation back to nothing on the cart screen before continuing.

Tax

The donation is not taxed. Sales tax is calculated on the products only.

Where it lands

The donation is recorded with the order rather than as a separate gift, so it appears with the order in your Shop orders in the administrator.
