Updating the name of a product Variant

When creating product Variants for a parent Product, each Variant uses the Product Name and its combination of Variant Option values as its default name value (for example, "20th Anniversary T-Shirt - Blue Men's Medium"). You can alter this for a given Variant if you wish.

Note: If you later change the parent Product's name, the new name replaces the old one in every Variant name. Any other text you have added to a Variant name is kept. For example, if you rename "20th Anniversary T-Shirt" to "Anniversary T-Shirt", the Variant "20th Anniversary T-Shirt - Blue Men's Medium" becomes "Anniversary T-Shirt - Blue Men's Medium".

To update the name of a product Variant:

1. Open the Shop Products Manager.
2. Click the Product Name of the parent Product whose Variant you wish to edit.
3. In the add/edit Product view, click the Variants tab.
4. Click the name of the Variant you wish to edit.
5. For Name, enter the text you wish to use. This appears on the front-end Shop shopping cart order form, order confirmation page, and order confirmation email.
6. Click Save.
7. In the main add/edit Product view, click Save.

Note: If you rename a Variant so that it no longer contains the parent Product's name, renaming the parent Product will no longer update it. You will need to update that Variant name yourself.
