Enabling payment methods for the Events app

As an administrator, you are able to allow visitors to pay by major credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa), cash or check, or PayPal Standard.

Credit card

The first option will process the payment through your chosen payment processor that integrates with Soapbox Engage without the visitor ever leaving your site. The options include our currently supported payment gateways.

Cash or check

The cash or check option will allow someone to register without immediate payment. You will then need to collect payment through other channels. 

PayPal Standard

The PayPal Standard option will complete the reservation on your site and then send the visitor to PayPal itself to complete the payment. Once the payment has been made, the fact that it was completed will be noted in Soapbox for that reservation.

How to enable a payment method

To enable your desired options:

1. Open the Soapbox Event for which you wish to set payment options
2. Click the Edit tab
3. Click Payment Options in the right column to slide open that portion of the column
4. For Major Credit Cards, choose Use Global Config, Show or Hide. Use Global Config will cause the event to default to the setting noted in Soapbox Events > Configuration > Payments tab.
5. For Cash or Check, choose Use Global Config, Show or Hide. Use Global Config will cause the event to default to the setting noted in Soapbox Events > Configuration > Payments tab. Choosing this option will require that you accept payment from attendees offline either at the event or by some other means. 6. For Enable PayPal Button, choose Use Global Config, Yes, or No. Use Global Config will cause the event to default to the setting noted in Soapbox Events > Configuration > Payments tab.
   
   NOTE: If you choose to allow visitors to pay via PayPal, you must use the RSVP Confirmation Page Message option on the Messages tab rather than a Redirect After Reservation since the Go To PayPal button only appears on the confirmation page. Otherwise, your visitors will not be able to finalize payment with PayPal.
   
   
7. If you have chosen to Enable PayPal Button, fill in your PayPal account's email address for PayPal Email Address
8. Click Save
