Why don't my Amazon SNS topics appear in SES?

updated

When you're configuring your bounce and complaint notifications within Amazon Simple Email Service (SES), you might run into a situation where the Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) topics don't appear as an option when choosing your notification routes.  Here's a few ways to solve this situation.

1) Ensure that your Amazon SNS is set to be in the "N. Virginia" (also known as the "US East") region: Amazon > SNS > Dropdown menu next to your name in the upper-right part of the screen.  Amazon SES will only work with Amazon SNS in the "N. Virginia" region.  No other region's SNS topics will appear in SES for bounce and complaint notification handling.

2) Ensure that your Amazon SNS bounce topic (ses-bounces-topic) is setup: Amazon > SNS > Navigation > ses-bounces-topic

3) Ensure that your Amazon SNS complaint topic (ses-complaints-topic) is setup: Amazon > SNS > Navigation > ses-complaints-topic

Happy emailing!
