Why do event registrants see a PayPal Standard error when trying to complete their transaction?



Soapbox Engage's Events app enables organizations to create event registration pages that integration with PayPal Standard for payment processing.  Sometimes, visitors attempting to process a payment for an event registration may see error message while attempting to pay using PayPal Standard.

Here’s some potential causes and solutions for solving this problem.


Possible causes and solutions

1. Missing PayPal Standard email for the event

Each Events app event has the ability to connect to a unique PayPal Standard account.  It is possible that this value is simply missing for the event.


  1. Login to the Soapbox Engage administrator.
  2. Navigate to the event in question.
  3. On the event's page, go to Edit tab > Payment Options section > PayPal Email field, and ensure that a valid PayPal Standard email address is set.


  1. Enter a valid PayPal Standard email address for the PayPal Email.
