Setting colors for the Auctions app

updated

With the Auctions app, you can set the colors used across the auction pages your bidders see — backgrounds, headings, buttons and links — so an auction matches the rest of your brand.

To set the colors:

  1. In the administrator, go to Auctions → Configuration. How you reach the Auctions menu depends on which administrator your site has — see Viewing and managing Auctions in the administrator.
  2. Click the Design tab.
  3. Under Colors, set each color you want to change, using the color picker or by entering a hex value.
  4. Click Save.

The colors you can set

Backgrounds

Setting Applies to Default
Header Background the band across the top of every auction page #ffffff
Site Background the page behind your auction content #ffffff

Headings

Setting Applies to
Heading Color (All) every heading, unless overridden below
H1 Color — H6 Color one heading level each

Set Heading Color (All) first. Use the individual H1–H6 settings only where a particular level needs to differ — for example a page title in your brand color with the smaller headings left dark.

Buttons

Setting Applies to Default
Button Color button background at rest #005ba9
Button Text Color button label at rest
Button Hover Color button background under the pointer #1A6BB2
Button Hover Text Color button label under the pointer

Set all four together. Changing only the background is the usual cause of a button whose label becomes unreadable on hover.

Links

Setting Applies to
Link Color links at rest
Link Hover Color links under the pointer

What the setting covers

These colors apply to every auction on your site, not to one auction. Auctions has a single set of design settings, so changing them here changes the appearance of all of your auctions at once. There is no per-auction override.

Important: Check your choices for contrast before an event. Pale button text on a pale background, or a link color close to your body text, is hard to read on a phone in a dimly lit room — which is exactly where most bidding happens.
