Scanning is the fastest way to work a door. Your staff member points the device camera at the QR code on the guest's ticket, and the guest is checked in.
To check a guest in by scanning:
- Tap Events in the app, or tap Check in guests on the Home screen.
- Tap the event you are working.
- Tap the QR scanner button at the top of the screen.
- If the app asks for camera access, allow it.
- Tap Open Camera.
- Point the camera at the QR code on the guest's ticket.
The guest is checked in as soon as the code is read, and a confirmation appears naming them. Scan the next guest straight away — the camera stays open.
Note: The first time a staff member scans on a device, the browser asks permission to use the camera. Have your team do this before the doors open, not with a queue in front of them.
Where guests get their QR code
Guests receive their QR code with their ticket when they register for the event. Any ticket already issued works — nothing needs to be regenerated for the app.
If a code will not scan
A dim screen, a cracked phone, a crumpled printout, or bright sunlight can all defeat a scan. Rather than fighting it, tap Search by name and check the guest in from the list. See Checking in a guest by searching for their name.
Tracking your progress
The event list shows how many guests are checked in out of the total, and the attendee list can be filtered to show who has and has not arrived yet. Pull down on the list to refresh it if several staff are working the same door.
