Setting appearance and haptic feedback on your device

updated

Two settings on the Profile screen let each staff member tune the app to the room they are standing in and the device they are holding. Both are personal to that device — changing them affects nobody else.

Appearance

Choose how the app looks:

Option What it does
Light Always the light appearance
Dark Always the dark appearance
System Follows the device's own light or dark setting

To change it:

  1. Tap Profile.
  2. Under Appearance, tap Light, Dark, or System.

The change applies immediately.

Note: Dark is worth suggesting to anyone working a darkened auction room or a paddle raise — a bright white screen held up in a dark room is uncomfortable for the person holding it and distracting for everyone near them.

Haptic feedback

Haptic feedback is a small vibration confirming that a tap registered. It matters most where staff cannot reliably hear or see a confirmation — a loud room, a device in a lanyard case, eyes on the guest rather than the screen.

Option When the device vibrates
On On button taps and gestures
Minimal On success and error events only
Off Never

To change it:

  1. Tap Profile.
  2. Under Haptic feedback, tap On, Minimal, or Off.

Important: Haptic feedback works on supported Android devices only. On an iPhone or iPad the app says so and the setting has no effect — this is a limitation of what those devices allow a web app to do, not a fault with the app or the device.

Minimal is a good middle setting for a long shift: a confirmation when a check-in or a payment succeeds or fails, and silence otherwise.

Both settings are per device

Appearance and haptics are stored on the device, not on the staff member's account. Someone who signs in on a second device sets them again there, and a shared device keeps whatever the last person chose.
