Managing Auction Items

With the Auctions app, you can add and configure auction items within an auction, including setting the bidding type, controlling item visibility, and featuring specific items on the auction homepage.

To add or edit an auction item:

1. Open the Auctions Manager.
2. Click the title of the auction you want to manage.
3. Click the Items tab.
4. Click an existing item's title to edit it, or click New Item to create a new one.
5. For Item Type, select one of the following options to control how bidding works for the item:
   • Silent Bidding — Bidders place bids and the highest bid wins when the item closes. This is the default.
   • Live Bidding — The item is managed by an auctioneer during a live event.
   • Fixed Price — The item has a set purchase price and no bidding occurs. Bidders click a Buy Now button to purchase.
6. For Published, select Yes to make the item visible on the front end, or No to hide it from all front-end visitors including signed-in users.
7. For Visibility, select one of the following options:
   • Public — The item is visible to all front-end visitors.
   • Private — The item is only visible to signed-in users. Anonymous visitors do not see the item on the auction homepage or category pages.
8. For Featured, select Yes to display this item in a dedicated "Featured" row at the top of the auction homepage. Select No to display the item in the standard item grid only.
9. Click Save.

Note: Items with Published set to No are not displayed on the front end under any circumstances. Items with Visibility set to Private are hidden from anonymous visitors but visible to signed-in bidders.
