With the Auctions app, bidders land on the auction home page when they navigate to your auction. This page displays the auction's key details, a browsable grid of items, and tools for searching, filtering, and sorting — giving participants everything they need to find items and start bidding.
Auction header
The top of the page displays the auction's name and description on the left, and key timing and participation details on the right. Bidders can see:
- Auction name — the publicly visible name set in the auction's Details tab
- Auction description — the optional description entered when configuring the auction
- Starts / Ends — the auction's open and close dates and times, displayed in the auction's configured time zone (for example, "Dec 9, 2025 at 9:03 PM ET")
- Bidders — the current number of registered bidders
- Items — the total number of published items in the auction
For visitors who are not signed in, Sign Up and Sign In buttons appear in the header. Once a bidder is signed in, those buttons are replaced by links to My Bids, Favorites, and My Preferences.
Official Time
At the bottom of the page, a live clock displays the current official time in the auction's configured time zone, formatted as Official Time: HH:MM:SS TZ. This clock updates in real time and serves as the authoritative reference for when items close.
Item grid
Below the header, items are displayed in a card grid. Each card shows the item's photo, title, current bid amount, and status. For a full description of item statuses and card details, see Browsing items and viewing item details.
Category carousel
If the auction includes categories, a category carousel appears above the item grid. Bidders can click a category name to filter items to that category. On desktop, left and right arrow buttons appear when hovering over the carousel to scroll through available categories. The arrows are disabled when the carousel has reached its leftmost or rightmost position.
Searching for items
A search bar at the top of the item grid lets bidders type keywords to find specific items by name.
Filtering items
A Filter button (grey outline, white background) opens a filter panel with three sections:
- Categories — a list of all categories in the auction, shown alphabetically with the item count for each category in parentheses. Bidders can select one or more categories to narrow results.
- Status — a single-select filter with options: Open, Preview, Closing Soon, and Closed.
- Price — Min and Max fields to filter items by price range.
Clicking Apply executes the filter. Clicking Show all items resets all active filters and closes the panel. The panel can also be dismissed by clicking the X button or clicking the Filter button again.
After applying filters, pills appear above the item grid identifying each active filter. Category pills show the category name, the status pill shows the selected status, and price pills display as Min Price: $XXX or Max Price: $XXX. Pills appear in this order: categories (alphabetical), status, item options, min price, max price. Clicking the X on any pill removes that individual filter.
The item grid shows Showing X items when results are found, or No matching items found when no items match the active filters.
Item grouping by category: When exactly one category is selected, items are displayed under a category heading. When multiple categories or no categories are selected, items are displayed without grouping.
Sorting items
A Sort button next to the Filter button lets bidders choose how items are ordered. The current sort order is shown on the button. Available sort options are:
- Ending Soonest
- Newest Items
- Price: Low to High
- Price: High to Low
- A-Z
- Item Number
When items are grouped by category, the selected sort order applies within each category grouping.
