With the Auctions app, you can connect an auction to an event so the two work together. Most auctions are run at an event — a gala, a dinner, a golf day — and the association is what lets your attendee list feed your bidder list.
The connection is one auction to one event, and you can set it from either side.
From the auction
- Open the Auctions Manager.
- Click the title of the auction you want to associate.
- Click the Details tab.
- Next to the event field, click Select and choose the event.
- Click Save.
From the event
- Open the Events Manager.
- Click the title of the event.
- Open the Auction Bidder section.
- For Auction, click Select and choose the auction.
- Click Save.
Either route sets the same connection — you do not need to do both.
What the association enables
Associating the two unlocks the attendee-based features of the Auctions app:
- Adding bidders from your attendee list. The auction's Bidders tab can search your event's attendees by name, email, company, order number or ticket number, and create a bidder from one. Without an association there is nothing to search, and the form says so.
- Auto-enrolling attendees as bidders. Attendees can become bidders automatically as they register. This is configured on the event — see Auto-enrolling event attendees as bidders.
- Writing details back to a ticket. When you create a bidder from an attendee, details the attendee left blank are filled in on their ticket.
Note: Associating an auction with an event does not create any bidders on its own. It makes the attendee-based tools available; creating bidders is either automatic through auto-enrollment or done from the Bidders tab.
Changing or removing the association
Set the field to None, or choose a different event, and save.
Bidders already created from attendees keep their records and their bidding activity. Their Attendee badge reflects the connection to the individual attendee, which is not undone by changing the auction's event.
