With the Events app, you can assign each ticket for an event to a spot in a group, such as a seat at a table, on the event's Assignments tab. The tab uses the words group and spot whatever you use them for.
Create the event's groups first. See Setting up tables or groups on the Assignments tab of an Event.
Finding tickets
- Open the Events Manager.
- Click the title of the event.
- Click the Assignments tab.
In the Assignments section, the Tickets list sits to the left of the groups. Click Unassigned or Assigned to switch between the two lists. Each button shows a count.
Each ticket shows the ticket holder's name and ticket type. Tickets bought together in one order are listed under the purchaser's name. On an event linked to an auction, a ticket holder who is a bidder also shows Bidder # and their bidder number. A check mark means the ticket is checked in. Canceled tickets are not listed.
To find a ticket, type a name, email, Soapbox Ticket Id or Soapbox Order Id in the Search tickets… box.
Assigning a ticket to a spot
- In the Unassigned list, find the ticket.
- Drag the ticket onto a spot marked Empty. To use the group's first empty spot instead, drop the ticket on the group's name.
- Click Save in the Assignments section.
To assign several tickets at once, select their checkboxes and drag any one of them, or drag the purchaser's name to move every unassigned ticket in that order. Dropped on a group's name, the tickets take the group's first empty spots. Dropped on a spot, they take that spot and the spots after it.
Moving or swapping tickets
Drag an assigned ticket by the handle at the left of its spot.
- Drop it on an empty spot, in the same group or another one, to move it.
- Drop it on an occupied spot in the same group to swap the two tickets.
Unassigning tickets
- Click the menu button at the right of the spot and click Unassign ticket.
- Or drag the ticket back onto the Tickets list.
- To empty a whole group, click the menu button beside the group's name, click Unassign all tickets, and click Yes.
Unassigned tickets return to the Unassigned list. The Assigned list shows each assigned ticket with its group and spot. It is for reference only: move a ticket from its spot, not from that list.
Viewing a ticket's details
Click the menu button at the right of a spot and click View ticket. A panel shows Assignment, Spot, Full name, Email, Ticket type, Soapbox Ticket Id and Soapbox Order Id. On an event linked to an auction, it also shows Bidder number.
Working with many groups
Click All, Empty, Partial or Full above the groups to show only groups with that many spots filled. Click Fullscreen for more room, and Exit Fullscreen to return.
Saving your changes
Changes on this tab are not saved as you make them. A bar reading You have unsaved ticket assignment changes. appears until you save.
- Click Save in the Assignments section, or Save Now in the bar. Saving the event itself also saves the assignments.
- Click Discard to go back to what was last saved.
- Click the Undo and Redo arrows to step through your last 10 changes.
If you close the event or open another part of the administrator with unsaved changes, an Unsaved Changes window offers Save, Don't Save and Cancel. Moving to another tab of the same event does not ask.
Note: If the event is integrated with Salesforce, saving also sends each changed ticket's group and spot to Salesforce.

When another administrator is editing the event
Only one administrator at a time can change assignments. If someone else has the event open for editing, the tab shows Read-only while their name is editing this event. You can see the groups and tickets, and you can make changes once they save or close the event.
Seeing assignments on the Tickets tab and in an export
Once the event has a saved group, the event's Tickets tab shows an Assignment column after Purchaser. It shows the ticket's group name with Spot and the spot number, or a dash for a ticket that is not assigned. Click the heading to sort by group, in the order you arranged the groups, and then by spot. Unassigned tickets always sort last.
To download the assignments, click Actions in the Overview section, click Export Ticket Assignments, and click Export. The file lists every ticket that is not canceled with its group and spot, and includes a Bidder Number column on an event linked to an auction. It contains what is on your screen, including changes you have not saved.
