Boost recurring donations this giving season with the upsell prompt!With the Auctions app, participants must register and sign in before they can place bids or make purchases. Bidder registration collects contact information and an optional SMS opt-in, and automatically creates a bidder profile for the auction.
Signing up
Visitors who do not yet have an account can click Sign Up on the auction home page to create one. New users who register while on an auction page are automatically enrolled as bidders for that auction — no separate bidder registration step is required.
The registration form includes a Mobile Phone field with a country code selector and a formatted phone number input. By default, the country code selector includes options for the United States, Canada, Brazil, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Below the phone number field, an opt-in checkbox reads:
I agree to receive SMS notifications (outbid alerts, auction closing reminders, etc)...
This checkbox is unchecked by default. Participants who check it consent to receive SMS notifications for the auction. The date and time of the opt-in is recorded on the bidder record. For details on what SMS notifications bidders receive, see Auction notifications and alerts.
Signing in
Returning participants can click Sign In on the auction home page to log into their existing account. Signing in from an auction page automatically associates the bidder with that auction.
Registering to bid from an item page
If a signed-in user does not yet have a bidder profile for the current auction and they click Buy Now on an item detail page, a Register to Bid modal appears. This modal collects the same information as the standard sign-up flow, including the mobile phone field and SMS opt-in, and then enrolls the user as a bidder for the auction.
After registering
Once registered, bidders receive a confirmation email with the auction's start time and a link to view the auction. For details on all notification types, see Auction notifications and alerts.
